Rava Dosa Recipe | How to Make Onion Dosa Recipe

Material:

  • 2 cups semolina
  • 2 cups rice flour
  • 2 cups curd
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ginger green chilli paste
  • 1/2 tsp grated coconut
  • 1 carrot
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • salt to taste

 How to make Rava Dosa

  • To make Rava Dosa, first sift and clean the semolina and rice flour.
  • – Now take a bowl and add rice flour, semolina and curd in it and make a batter. The dough should not be too thick or too thin.
  • Keep this mixture for some time. – Now take the same bowl and add grated coconut, ginger, green chilli paste, cumin, salt etc. to the mixture and mix the entire mixture well.
  • – Now place the non-stick pan on the gas, after some time the pan gets hot, then apply some oil or ghee on it. – Now spread this mixture on the pan with the help of flour. Keep in mind that while spreading the layer should not be too thin or thick, otherwise the shape of your dosa will not be good.
  • – Now apply oil or ghee and fry from both sides. Your hot Rava Dosa is ready in no time.
  • Rava Dosa is eaten with both coconut chutney and sambar. You can have it with any one as per your choice.

Some special tips for Rava Dosa:

  • To make semolina dosa, use fine semolina. Using thick semolina may cause the dosa to break while cooking.
  • The consistency of the batter should be thin and pourable. The consistency of the flour determines the texture of rava dosa. The runny batter creates a porous texture here. You can make them from paper thin to medium thin by adjusting the consistency of the batter.
  • It is important to use the right type of pan here. – Make these dosas on non-stick pan.
  • The pan should be hot enough when you pour the batter mixture on the pan. But to make it crispy, cook it on low flame. Do not toast them on high flame. The dosa will not be crisp but will turn brown.
  • Grease the pan well. – Before pouring the batter in the pan to make Dosa, rub it with onion pieces if necessary. Repeat this for each dose.
  • If the batter is not thin enough, you will get thick and thick dosa. Add more water when it thickens.
  • If the dough is too thin then the dosa will break. Mix a few spoons of rice flour and semolina in proportion.
